Items You Associate With Christmas

Glistening lights, great food, presents and family all represent the perfect Christmas. It’s a time of year where everyone looks to each other for love and support. It encompasses all things good and pure in the world and helps remind us that we are fortunate to have each other. While it can be stressful with shopping trips, all day baking marathons and irritating in-laws, it really is a time of joy at the end of the day.

The nativity scene is a very common item associated with Christmas. It reflects the baby Jesus is a manger with his parents Mary and Joseph. Nativity scenes usually have a barn for shelter and animals, wise men and shepherds inside. Nativity scenes can be small or large depending on the location. Many people have small nativity scenes displayed in their homes and pass them down through the generations. Office buildings and organizations often have large nativity scenes outside their quarters. Of course Christian churches almost always have nativity scenes and some even have living nativity scenes! These are quite a sight to see and the whole family will absolutely enjoy the experience. Imagine walking through a real barn with real animals and a live baby Jesus. It brings the entire experience to life and really puts Christmas back into its proper concept.

At the complete other end of the spectrum is Santa Clause. This jolly old guy is a huge item associated with Christmas and he can be seen on Christmas cards and at shopping malls almost every day during December. His huge fluffy beard and red outfit is very hard to miss and children can’t wait for a chance to tell him their list. Of course he’s checking it twice to see who’s been naughty or nice! Along with Santa goes his trust reindeer with Rudolph leading the way. Don’t forget about the elves hard at work making the toys for little boys and girls. They start next year’s rotation on December 26^th because there are so many orders to fill!

The Christmas Tree is another great holiday item. Almost every home has one whether it be artificial or real. People take great pride in decorating their trees and it’s often a whole evening event for the entire family. Decorations are often passed down between the generations to make the Christmas tree even more special than it already is. Below the tree you’ll find dozens of colourfully wrapped presents just waiting to be ripped open by excited children on Christmas morning.

The nativity scene, Santa Clause and the Christmas tree are only a few of the items we associate with Christmas. Of course, angels, poinsettias and mistletoe all make the list as well. It’s funny how one word can get us into the holiday spirit. Simply seeing the colourful wrapping paper in a Christmas store display is enough to fill one with warm memories of holidays past.
